Well, I’m sad to inform I am really NOT that into making New Year’s resolutions. I mean, I get the “Make a List” concept, but, for some reason, I fear that if I make an extensive list of resolutions for the new year, it will feel like “work” that will hang over me for the next 12 months. I also don’t care for the over-generalized list items such as, “Eat better”, “Get more exercise”, “Help people more”…….bitch please! So here is my list, sorry to disappoint, but as they say in New England (and elsewhere now), “It is what it is”.
2009
1. Live
2. Do not make (meaningless) New Years Resolutions
What can I say? I came across this video from the guys over at ImprovEverywhere, and I just thought it was yet another cool and funny idea. How do they come up with them? Enjoy.
So, it’s that time of year. Driving home in the dark. Wearing of “Outerwear”. Socks. Year-end this, Year-end that. No wonder some animals hibernate. Anyways, just thought I would write a brief post, let you all know I’m still alive, still living the dream, taking life one day at a time. I did hear that we got a new President, so I guess that’s pretty cool. Hopefully inspiration will strike again soon, until then, here is a pretty cool photo I saw today on the Twitter-feed.
Oh - and I updated the “Books” widget - some really great books! Check them out.
I know I know. The good news is that I haven’t been posting because I have been busy spending time with friends, getting fit, playing golf, and keeping an eye on finances. So I will just link up some stuff and call it a post!
Read a pretty good summary of the political coverage of the Presidential race over at BryanDunn.com. Sounds like he’s had enough. Me too. No wonder we love reality TV. Pointless and Aimless at the same time.
I have been getting more exercise (instead of posting to the chop), and I read a really good, short article about Why I Love Running. Every time I go out, I find that I can run a little bit farther(or is it further), a little bit faster, for a little longer. It feels good. Thanks to GetFitSlowly for the link to the story.
Finally, I have embedded a couple of short and entertaining videos about “budgets”, from GetRichSlowly. The first is a really neat way to track your finances BEFORE you spend the $$. The second is just a funny step back in time to a different era. Enjoy!
Recently I have been on sort of a “new leaf” program with regards to health and fitness. I have been eating better and getting almost-regular exercise. I am by no means a health nut, but I could stand to lose a few, if you know what I’m saying. That said, I kinda fell off the wagon last night.
When it comes to the diet and exercise regimen, I am far from militant or rigid (see drinking, smoking, gambling) but the reason I’m bothered is that I just read this post over at GetFitSlowly about what Sumo Wrestlers do to NOT Lose weight. So, what do I do right after I read this post? I skipped the daily exercise regimen and vegged out with some sedentary visual stimulation (see television) for a few hours. Right around sleepy time, I got a visit from my old friend Insomnia , followed shortly after by hunger, resulting in eating half an apple pie well after midnight. So much for avoiding # 4:
4. Eat late in the day. Going to bed with full stomachs means that their bodies must respond to the huge flood of nutrients with a rush of insulin, forcing their bodies to store some of it in the cells as fat instead of in the muscles and organs as nutrients.
Not to beat a dead horse, but I have a hard time believing that you people don’t use an RSS reader, so I am posting a short video here from our friends over at CommonCraft about the Google Reader. Enjoy!
